Power of the Purse Mission Statement
The Power of the Purse educates, inspires and increases the number of women committed to philanthropy in order to strengthen our community by providing funds and assistance to women and girls.

Goals

  1. Make a difference among women in the community by promoting volunteerism and effective philanthropy through our pooled resources.
  2. Encourage community among ourselves and those we serve
  3. Educate and increase awareness of local needs
  4. Encourage self-sufficiency and well-being among those in need
  5. Build a network that is a catalyst for positive change

Grants

Power of the Purse Grant Finalist Meeting

The Power of the Purse will hold its Grant Gala on Tuesday, December 8th at Wetherington Country Club. Please join us for a fun-filled evening where we will announce the recipient of the Power of the Purse Grant award. Call the Foundation to make a reservation, today.

The four organizations who were selected by the Power of the Purse membership to be a 2009 Finalist include:

Circle Tail, Inc.
Program Goal:
To identify and train high quality dogs to partner with people with mobility, hearing, neurological or psychiatric disabilities. We hope to partner 5-10 dogs in 2009 at no charge to the people with the disability.

Companions on Journey, Grief Support: Teens in Grief Support Program
Program Goal:
To reach out to the teens who grieve, validate their feelings, create a safe environment, support them in their grief and promote communication between teens and parents.

Community Foundation of West Chester/Liberty, Angel Fund
Program Goal:
Provide assistance to persons who live and/or work in West Chester or Liberty Township or are registered members of a church in same, who are in extraordinary, urgent or unusual circumstances, and whose need cannot be addressed by any other charitable, governmental, religious or social services agency or organization.

Healthy Visions
Program Goal:
Guides people to better choices, for stronger relationships, in sexuality, marriage and parenting. By cultivating healthier families through these challenging phases of life, Healthy Visions is ultimately cultivating a healthier society.

Membership Rights and Responsibilities
All members will be invited to the Annual Dinner and any fundraising and/or networking event. Member may serve on any of the committees or subcommittees: Education, Grants, Recuruting/Membership, and Marketing Fundraising. They are expected to fulfill any pledges made to the fund and to further the mission of the Power of the Purse by encouraging others to participate.
