Leo’s Park
On Tuesday, September 15 th a groundbreaking was held at the Voice of America MetroPark to signify the start of the parks newest feature - Leo's Park.
Leo's Park is the vision of Jeff and Susan Johnson, who lost their son Leo after a 2 year battle with leukemia in 2006. The family wanted to honor their son by creating a community space where resident could enjoy the outdoors and what nature has to offer. Over the past 3 years, the family has worked to develop an outdoor space that would combine Leo's love of nature, animals and the outdoors, the result is Leo's Park.
Upon Leo's death, friends and family made memorial contributions to a charitable fund at The Community Foundation of West Chester/Liberty. The money raised will go toward to development of the park. It is expected that the first phase of the project will be completed by mid-October with additional upgrades and park features installed as funding allows. Sponsorship of Tree's, benches and other park features of available.
